Lane Walker was established in Sheffield in July 1980 by Robert Lane and Graeme Walker to specialise in retail agency throughout the East Midlands and Yorkshire . Subsequently the Company expanded to provide a full range of services on all types of commercial property throughout the Region . The Company has acted for a wide range of clients including national and regional retailers , property institutions, banks and building societies , manufacturing companies , public bodies and private individuals .

Thirty years after its formation Lane Walker still strives to provide clients with comprehensive and informed advice based on its long experience in Sheffield and throughout South Yorkshire. An in depth knowledge acquired over a number of years helps us to advise clients on the best way to maximize their property holdings in difficult economic times.

 

The Team

Robert Lane FRICS
Robert joined Churston Heard and Company ( now part of Jones Lang LaSalle ) in Mayfair , London in October 1972 as a Trainee subsequently rising to Surveyor in charge of Yorkshire and the North East . He moved to Peter Hunter and Company , a niche retail agency based in London’s West End , in July 1978 as Associate Partner in charge of Agency and Landlord and Tenant Negotiations. In July 1980 he moved north to Sheffield to form Lane Walker specialising in Retail Agency throughout the East Midlands, Yorkshire and the North East.
Robert is married and lives in the Peak District and his interests include walking, travelling, cooking, gardening, rock and classical music as well as watching all types of sport although skiing is the only sporting activity he still actively pursues. He has raised money for various Cancer charities through a variety of walks, runs and horse rides most recently in May 2009 taking part in the Snowdon 500 climb to raise money for Prostate Cancer research. He will be climbing Snowdon again for the same Charity in May 2010.
Following the construction of the Meadowhall Shopping Centre , Robert became heavily involved in the Public/ Private Sector co-operation to regenerate Sheffield City Centre that led to the formation of Sheffield 1 and thereafter to Creative Sheffield . Lane Walker were one of the key advisors appointed to carry out the baseline Study for Sheffield 1. Sitting on SPARC , The Sheffield Property and Regeneration Committee of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry , has continued this active involvement in Sheffield’s future . As current President of Property Agents International , an organization of 25 property firms situated throughout the UK, Robert has access to and active knowledge of property values and trends outside of his immediate area of expertise.

Will Hunting
Will gained his undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Sheffield in 2006 before an ill-fated foray into Sports Management led to a change of career and a decision to enter the commercial property industry. He started out at Brasier Freeth in the Home Counties working on all aspects of Commercial Agency and Professional work, this was followed by a return north to Sheffield to undertake an MSc Property Appraisal & Management at Sheffield Hallam University graduating in 2009. He subsequently joined Lane Walker in June 2009 and is responsible for Business Space and Retail Agency and Landlord & Tenant matters.
Outside of the office Will has a number of interests, almost all of which revolve around sport. He has played American Football to a high level having represented Yorkshire, the North of England and Great Britain. He currently coaches Great Britain and is the Head Coach of the University of Sheffield team. Will is also a keen cricketer, golfer and snowboarder, getting away to the Alps whenever possible. Aside from actually playing sport, when he has the time he is an avid follower of the fortunes of Saracens RFC.
